Laura Fygi

Hasta los ocho años , vivió con sus padres en América del Sur. Es hija de padre holandés (un gerente en Philips) y madre egipcia.

Entre 1987 y 1991, Laura Fygi fue miembro de una de las más populares bandas de niñas neerlandesas, Centerfold. En sus presentaciones mostraban ropa interior sexy. Lograron éxito en los Países Bajos y en toda Europa y hasta en Japón fueron famosas.

En 1991, las chicas de Centerfold lo disolvieron y Laura (junto a Rowan Moore) formaron un grupo llamado Las Backlot. Después de una actuación en el teatro holandés Paradiso, se esperaba un álbum, pero Mercury Records ya había pedido a Laura hacer un disco en solitario. Este primer álbum de ella se llamó Introducción, producido por Ruud Jacobs; donde la acompañó el famoso músico belga Jean “Toots” Thielemans. La mayoría de las canciones del álbum son de jazz.


For the first eight years of her life, she lived with her parents in South America. She is the daughter of a Dutch father (a manager at Philips) and an Egyptian mother.

Between 1987 and 1991, Laura Fygi was a member of one of the most popular Dutch girl-bands, Centerfold. During performances, the ladies dressed themselves in sexy lingerie. They had hits in the Netherlands and all over Europe. In Japan, they were considered famous.

In 1991, the ladies of Centerfold stopped performing and Laura (together with Rowan Moore) started a band called The Backlot. After one performance in Dutch theatre Paradiso, an album was expected, but Mercury Records had already asked Laura to make a solo album. This first album of hers was called Introducing (album), produced by Ruud Jacobs. On this album, she was accompanied by famous Belgian musician Jean ‘Toots’ Thielemans.
